Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 30, 2026. Last updated: July 17, 2026.
This policy explains how Method Math collects, uses, protects, and manages information submitted through the public website, Family Portal, consultation forms, and booking tools.
Privacy contact: Email [email protected] or text/call 530-505-1264. Text or email is preferred for routine privacy and scheduling requests.
What we collect
Method Math collects information needed to respond to tutoring requests, create parent-managed family accounts, schedule sessions, and provide tutoring support. This may include parent or guardian name, email, phone number, preferred contact method, student name, grade, school, current math class, tutoring goals, notes shared by the parent, appointment dates, and cancellation history.
Do not submit medical records, disability documentation, Social Security numbers, payment-card numbers, or other highly sensitive information through the website.
Children and student information
Only an adult parent or legal guardian, or another adult acting with the parent or guardian's authority, may submit a consultation request, create or use a family account, manage a student profile, or book a session. Student profiles do not require student email addresses. Method Math does not knowingly permit children to create accounts independently. If child-submitted information is discovered, Method Math will disable the account or request, contact the parent or guardian when appropriate, and delete the information unless a documented legal reason requires limited retention. Parents may request access, correction, export, or deletion through the privacy request page.
How we use information
- To respond to consultation requests and scheduling questions.
- To create and manage family accounts, student profiles, bookings, cancellations, and parent updates.
- To provide tutoring services and prepare for tutoring sessions.
- To protect the website, prevent misuse, and maintain records needed for business operations.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to verified requests.
Cookies and tracking
The site uses necessary cookies or browser storage for login sessions, portal functionality, and remembering privacy choices. Method Math also uses Google Analytics on public pages to understand site traffic and interactions. The Google Analytics tag does not load until a visitor enables analytics in the consent banner, and it is not loaded on authenticated family or admin pages. Method Math does not send names, email addresses, phone numbers, student information, appointment details, URL query parameters, or URL fragments to Google Analytics. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies and receive public-page activity, device and browser information, and approximate location information after consent. Method Math does not use advertising pixels, retargeting, session replay, or cross-context behavioral advertising on the website. Visitors can decline analytics or change their choice at any time through the “Privacy choices” button. They may also block or delete cookies in their browser or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Third-party services
Information may be processed by service providers used to operate the business, including Netlify for hosting, Forms, Functions, Identity, and Blobs storage; Google for consented public-page analytics and business email; phone and text providers for communications; and Venmo for payments made outside this website. Website fonts are stored and served by Method Math rather than requested from Google. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Selling or sharing personal information
Method Math does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, Method Math must add the legally required notices and opt-out controls before the practice begins.
Retention and deletion
- Unconverted consultation inquiries: 90 days after the last contact.
- Abandoned or unconfirmed account requests: 30 days.
- Active family and student profiles: while tutoring is active, followed by a 90-day account-closure period.
- Portal appointment records: 12 months after the appointment ends.
- Portal security and appointment event records: 90 days.
- Privacy-request case records and proof of completion: 24 months.
- Consented Google Analytics event data: the shortest useful property setting, targeted at 2 months.
- Payment, tax, safety, fraud, or dispute records: only for the longer period required by applicable law or a documented active claim.
The portal enforces the 90-day event and 12-month appointment limits during canonical writes. Other systems are reviewed and deleted using the written privacy-operations procedure. Parents can request deletion through Privacy Requests. Verified deletion requests are completed sooner unless a documented legal, tax, security, or dispute exception applies; any retained exception data is restricted to that purpose.
California privacy requests
California residents and parents or guardians of students may request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal information. Submit requests at Privacy Requests or email [email protected]. Method Math may need to verify your identity and authority before fulfilling a request.
Security
Method Math uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect account and student information. No website or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. See the Security page for more detail.
Changes
Method Math may update this policy as the website, business practices, providers, or laws change. Material changes should be posted with an updated effective date.
